Maybe the 80’s are really coming back in full force.  A couple years ago, we saw the Member’s Only jackets come back, then last season we had leggings and this year the tapered skinny pants, add that to Kim Jong acting all ill and the Bush Administration not seeming to care a whole lot about our own violations of the nuclear nonproliferation treaty, I’m beginning to worry that I’ll have to get the fold and roll down so that I can peg my pants like the cool kids.

All those things - the fashions, the threat of nuclear holocaust - the actual 80’s can keep.  I don’t want that shit back.  As far as I’m concerned, the only great things about the 80’s were the tunes, the movies and how they often came together to create moments of the sublime.
It is in this spirit that I present to you the three videos below which in and of themselves are sublime.  However, when seen together, one after another, they also:

  1. further prove Paul Thomas Anderson’s genius
  2. prove the genius of the Transformers
  3. prove the “genius” of Michael Bay in his decision to have Stan Bush, the man who told us that we had “The Touch,” write a new song for Bay’s big, live action Transformers movie coming out on 7/4/7.

Apparently, “It’s a BIG song, with 70+ tracks at this point!”  Big?  Michael Bay?  No…

Here’s the original Stan Bush music video from the 80’s:

Here’s how it appeared in the Transformers: The Movie:

And here is how it appeared in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights:
