So diving back into the the final edit of the movie has gotten me into kind of a melancholy mood. This shouldn’t be a surprise if you consider that the bitch’s working title was “A New, Slow, Sad Film.”
Anyway, I picked up the new Twilight Singers record “Powder Burns” and boy is it righteous. And it’s not just because Greg Dulli looks kind of like a chubby JLG in the photo above or that the album’s melancholy exploration of his battle with addiction fits my current working mood; it’s because, like “New, Slow, Sad Film,” “Powder Burns” is a story bursting at the seams with beautiful and wistful ruminations on love, loss, and regret, that ends with an plea for forgiveness.
