The President’s approval ratings are at 29%.

29%.  Dang.  That’s l-o-w.

But if we reframe just a little bit, we get the bright side: if he were a baseball player of a decade or two ago and statistical analysis still favored batting average, he’d be a pretty dang good one batting .290.  He might even be a Hall of Famer if he had great stats elsewhere.  This is not too far off base as Bush did run the Texas Rangers for a few years (and may have allowed Jose “Tiresias” Canseco to bring steroids into the Rangers clubhouse).

Anyway, for comparison’s sake, Barry Bonds’ lifetime average is .2995 and he’d definitely be a Hall of Famer if not for the steroids scandal (and he still may be).  I’d like to think that GWB identifies himself with Bonds and considers insane gas prices, the War in Iraq II, and the numerous other scandals dogging him like the issues plaguing Bonds, and he’s chillin’ in the White House with Greg Anderson, er…Dick Cheney, thinking that he can still make it into the Hall with his .290.

Maybe he’ll make a show on MSNBC called “Bush on Bush” so that he can take more control of his media image in what is sure to become a historical year for him…oh, he has already - it’s the White House press corps…whoops, my bad…
