get FIXED at the Silverlake Film Festival

On Saturday, Mary Milan and I had Louie Cincinnati - no relation to Sammy Cincinnati - who you may know as the producer of my film, and his girlfriend over for dinner.  Chicken marsala with wild mushroom risotto and roasted asparagus.  Yum.

The news of the night was that Fixed, another film he produced, is premiering at the Silverlake Film Festival this week.  Here’s the lowdown, straight from the producer’s mouth:

FIXED is having its WORLD PREMIERE at the Silverlake Film Festival, Arclight Cinema, March 24th @ 5:30 p.m.

As the film’s writer, director and editor, Neil Matsumoto, said, it’s “a story about castration—but in a good way.”

FIXED tells the story of Matthew, a young artist on the fringe of the Los Angeles art world who discovers that a hormone treatment drug surprisingly brings him discipline in creating work. The story becomes more complicated when Matthew falls for a fellow artist, Deanna (Tina Holmes – SIX FEET UNDER), and must make a decision to choose between his new love life and his new found art career.

Again, the premiere is Friday, March 24th, 5:30 p.m. in the large theatre @ Arclight, 6360 W. Sunset Blvd. and there also is a screening the following Tuesday, March 28th at 10:00 p.m.

Hope to see you and please pass this along.

I think the subtext here is that Louie Cincinnati is telling me that if I can’t find the focus or discipline to finish our film that he’s suggesting castration, but only in aid of finishing the film.

Go see the movie.  I won’t be there, though.  I’m going to be sitting in front of my edit bay editing and writing voiceovers like a madman.
