I’m not going to belabor the story about how VP Dick Cheney shot a man over the weekend in a hunting accident and how the White House sat on the story for 21 hours because none of it is particularly surprising, but this tidbit from Tim Grieve’s War Room at Salon.com sort of struck me as cavalier, even for this administration:
…[White House Press Secretary Scott McCellan] joked that the national champion Texas Longhorns would be wearing orange during a visit to the White House because it’s their team color, and “not because they’re concerned that the vice president may be there”…
Man. Not only does George Bush not care about Black people, the problem goes even deeper. How do you expect the White House to care about your concerns when they joke about people that have been shot in the face?
Besides, Slate says that Mr. Whittington was wearing a bright colored vest and Cheney just didn’t see him. Maybe the Longhorns aren’t safe afterall.Â
The administration doesn’t care about white hunters!
